Because (of), since, as, due to,
as a result of
Because: it is followed
by a clause, we don’t use it at the beginning of a sentence.
e.g. He didn’t stay up because he was tired.
Because, since and as:
are followed by a clause (subject + verb)
Because of (a
causa de), as a result of and due to
(debido a) are followed by a noun or noun phrase.
e.g. I couldn’t find a job because of the crisis.
We couldn’t sleep due to the noise.
As (como) and since (ya que) are used at the beginning of the sentence.
e.g. As he is quite lazy, he doesn’t like hard work
Since it was closed, we couldn’t buy the flowers.
So, therefore, consequently, for
this reason and as a result
So: it
is followed by a clause. We don’t use it at the beginning of a sentence.
e.g. We were nervous so we couldn’t eat anything.
As a result, consequently and therefore are used at the beginning of
the sentence.
