MY SUMMER PROJECT  

Hi everybody!!           

In order to prepare the new school year here you have some very difficult homework:

Read at least one book OR watch at least one film in English.          

In September prepare a power point – Prezi presentation with some photos and headings to tell your teacher and partners on your first day about a book you’ve read or a film you’ve watched. In that way your new English teacher will know about you and your English. Do your best!!!

The English Department teachers hope you have a FANTASTIC and RELAXING SUMMER!!!

GUY FAWKES OR BONFIRE NIGHT

 

 

                              In England it is more common to celebrate Guy Fawkes than Halloween.
                                               

On 5th November 1605, Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London. King James caught him, and wanted him to be hanged,  drawn and quartered ( it was the penalty at those times)  but he fell and broke his neck.

Today in Britain, many towns hold public bonfires with firework displays. People make 'guys' -models, dummies of Guy Fawkes made of sacks and old clothes, which they burn on the bonfire. 

It is traditional to eat hot dogs, baked potatoes and toffee apples.
