    1. because it is the day that St. Patrick died
    2. all businesses are closed on March 17. By being religious in origin, many Irish attend mass to offer prayers for missionaries worldwide. Then he celebrated enjoy Irish cuisine and beverages and parades where reigns green (in some places is dyed green beer for the holiday).
