BASKETBALL
The sport that I liked most was basketball. although we didn´t win the gold medal, we did very well. We reached at the final against USA, the monsters, but only we could get the silver medal. We won fewer medals than we expected but we are very proud of the Spanish people representing us in the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games. (Hector Collados 3º )

 SWIMMING

SWIMMING Our country won some medals. The first of these medals was in swimming . Mireia Belmonte won the silver medal in 800 metre free style. The gold medal was for Katie Ledecky (USA) and the bronze medal was for Rebeca Adlington (England). Mireia won another medal in these Olympic games. she won the silver medal in 200 mtere butterfly. she was very happy becuase she loves swimming and her drean was winning an olympic game ...and she won two. (Laia Labrador 3º )

SYNCRONIZED SWIMMING
It is an event that has swimming gymnastics and dance to the rhythm of the music. In these Olympic Games the Spanish team won a bronze medal after the Russian and the Chinese that obtained the medals of gold and silver. Also, rusia in the duets won gold medals , Spain won second position with silver medal And China was below Spain, they won the bronze medal. Everybody did a good job.  (Gloria Orries 3º)
I enjoy all the choreographies a lot. The Spanish girls were very good. They did a Spanish tango inside the water! The other girls were great too. Spain was in the third place. ( Marina Escuer 3º)

HANDBALL IN THE OLYMPICS
The handball girls did a great job in the 2012 London Olympic Games . the first match was lost against South Korea, but this bad result helped to motimate them to follow later. Then they drew against France. The Spanish did not surrender. The next four matches (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Croatia) were won , do they reached the semifinals, but unfortunately were defeated by one point against Montenegro. Later they played for third and fourth position again against South Korea. After a tough match, the Spanish got the silver medal.( LIDIA GUIRAL 3º)

London Olympic Games

Did you see the London Olympic Games? What did you see in particular: taekwondo, basketball, athletics, synchronized swimming, ...?

It was very exiting to see  Usain Bolt´s race  getting a new olympic record and the last competition of Michael Phelps. Also, it was exciting to see the last basketball match, USA-Spain, altough USA won, and the final battle that the Spanish Joel González won.
The closing ceremony was also very funny, seemed a music concert. Such artists as Jessie J, and Taio Cruz song. There were beautiful moments as when Jessie J and other singer song a legendary song of Queen, and when the beautiful song Imagine of  John Lennon. (Andrea Estruga 4º)

This year the Olympic Games were in London the 24th of July. I liked the opening ceremony. It was very original. It was of the history of London.
My favourite sport is the synchronized swimming. It was very interesting. This sport combines swimming, gymnastics and dance. You can be in pairs or teams (max.8). Spain got silver medal in pairs and bronze medal in teams.
I also liked the "calavado". Jumps are from 10 meters high. I also saw the hurdles races and canoeing on Tv.
The closing ceremony was also nice. There have been also the Paralympics.
                                                                 Monica Jordan 4º

I saw all the Olympics Games. My favourite event was the Men's 50 km Race Walk because this event went arround the London streets and I was located in front of Buckingham Palace to see the race. There were a lot of people of diferent countries who were encouraging the athletes of their countries, I encouraged he Spanish athletes. It was an exciting experience in spite of the fact that the Spanish athletes didn't finish the race in the first positions                                                Oscar Millanes 4º

Did you see the triathlon men´s final  ?

Write a comentary about it.
It´s a really exciting event because it has some different sports in the same event.
The players start swimming, then they have to ride a bike. Both of them are really tiring. finally they have to run until the end.
This year a British sportsman won the event. The second was Javier Gomez, a Spanish athlete and the bronze was for a British boy, too. (Luis Rodriguez . 2º  BTO)

CHILD LABOUR

In February this year we celebrated the bicentenary of Charles Dickens' birth. Bachillerato students read a book by him : David Copperfield and Great Expectations.

ESO students worked on his life and his books. They learnt that Dickens did more than anyone to portray  Victorian London. Many Victorian children were poor and worked to help their families. Few people thought this strange or cruel. Families got no money unless they worked and most people thought work was good for children. The Industrial Revolution created new jobs in factories and mines. Many of these jobs were at frist done by children, because children were cheap - a child was paid less than  adults.

But later the students were able to know that 200 years later Child Labour is still happening in many countries around the world and they worked on what kind of jobs children do  and what countries make children work.

Now we want you to know a bit more on this topic and give your opinion. Watch these two documentaries:

On March 20th 1st Bachillerato students went on a 5-day trip to London. They visited important sights such as The Houses of the Parliament and the Big Ben, the Tower Bridge and some museums such as the British Museum, The War Museum and some art galleries. They could also know some traditional customs such as the change of guard and the crown jewels that could be seen at the Tower of London.

Pancake Day

In the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland and several other countries around the world, Pancake Day is celebrated with fun, games, and of course a lot of eating. However, the most well known activity is the Pancake Day race, which has been held since 1445. According to tradition, a woman heard the shriving bell being rang at the church but was still preparing her pancakes. The story says that as she didn't want to be late to church she ran there in her apron, still, clutching her frying pan.

The part I liked the least is the part of the programme that
the presenter helps the boy competitor

Tamara Beltrán 1ºB
The best part of the story is when the presenter is captured by Penny,
the assistant. It’s so funny! She’s tied with a rope and she’s got a sock
 in her mouth.

 Luís Orús 1ºB

My favourite character in the play “ARE YOU READY?” is Penny,
because she was so funny, she was wrong all the time with the adding up.

Penny was tall, she has got fair hair, brown eyes, a round face, and
she was wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers.

Andrea Abascal Sabaté 1º C
My favourite character is Jane because she isn´t false
and she´s very nice but Alan is lying.
Jane has got dark straight hair, brown eyes and a round face.
She´s short.

Belén Martín 1ºC
My favourite character is Alan because he is
very fun. He's tall. He's got dark, straight hair.
His eyes are blue.

Sergio Polo 1º C
ARE YOU READY?

Jane and Alan go to a TV show to win a tour all over the world.
They're classmates, so they go to the same university. Alan and
the presenter cheat because Alan wants to win the TV show to
go with Jane all over the world. Finally, Jane wins the show and
they (Alan and Jane) go together all over the world.

Theatre play: Are you ready?

On 16th November some students from 1st year of ESO went to Lleida to see a play.

Two classmates helped in the play: Gonzalo and Ainhoa. Gonzalo pretended to be the girl contestant's boyfriend. Ainhoa helped in a part of the contest. She had to mime a film.
