TRAVELLING TO ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES PROJECT

Hi 2nd of ESO students!

Have you ever thought about taking a trip to an English speaking country? Well, here is your chance!

http://api.ning.com/files/KHRei0YK6cVx0dWCd8ZzZDxmdVC*cnvuHzI*U0pwzUilOW0d9O4nqT0SL3rQzadoapNgUHifR*1F0APjMpse8H43-KIC836R/flags.jpg

For this project, let's imagine for a moment in groups of two people that we want to travel down to those countries where the English language is spoken.

Did you know that English is spoken all over the world, and not just in the United Kingdom or the United States? English is also an official language in other countries like India, Ireland, South Africa, Philippines, Canada, Gibraltar, Malta, Jamaica, Singapore, Bermuda and The Bahamas.

  • AMERICA: The USA, Canada, Jamaica, The Bahamas, Bermuda etc.
  • EUROPE: Ireland, Gibraltar, Malta, UK
  • AFRICA: South Africa, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Botsuana, Zimbabue, Malawi, Ghana, Rwana, Sudan.
  • ASIA: India, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Pakistan

So, choose an English speaking country from the list provided and work together to find out specific information in order to advertise it to your classmates (with the exception of Ireland, the USA and the UK). Make a Powerpoint or Prezi presentation to convince your fellow pupils that your destination is the most interesting to visit!

First of all, paint the English speaking countries in the world map I provided you last Friday.

You have to find information on the following contents:
-     Where is it? (Continent)
-     Include a map to situate the country and its flag
-     Population and land area
-     Capital and other important cities
-     Official languages (perhaps English is not the only language that is spoken in your country)
-     Currency
-     Monuments and interesting places to visit (must-see places or landmarks)
-     Landscape and wildlife
-     Festivals and festivities
-     Typical food
-     Typical sports
-     Anything else that will convince people to visit the country.

Prepare a 5 minute presentation to show to the class and don’t forget to include pictures! We've got a lot of work, so have fun and enjoy!

Oral presentations will be conducted on March 26th. The project must be kept in a pendrive and brought to class.

LONDON

Hi students,

Ready to visit London ?

Ver las imágenes de origen

Once in London, while in front of the landmark / place that you explained in your oral presentation, shoot a video (in pairs) giving a brief explanation about it.

For example, you can start in this way:

"Hi! Greetings from London! We are in front of one of the most fabulous museums in the world, the British Museum! ..."

REMEMBER:
·         Each member should speak the same amount of time.
·         The video should last about one or two minutes.
·         Try to help each other giving feedback
·        Your presentation should be natural while you are speaking in front of the camera as if you were reporters.

RECORDING:
·         Try to be comfortable in front of the camera.
·         Show some passion and enthusiasm when talking!

EDITING THE VIDEO:
Once in Spain, those students who take ITC lessons with Manuel or Belen should edit all the videos. Some of them will be shown in the English Week.

·  Edit the video to make it as appealing as possible. Be creative.
·         IMPORTANT: Send the video to your English teacher just in case you have to change something:
